Hyundai Ioniq (AE): Tailgate / Tailgate Latch. Repair procedures

Replacement
   
•
Put on gloves to prevent hand injuries.
   
•
When removing with a flat-tip screwdriver or remover, wrap protective tape around the tools to prevent damage to components.
•
Take care not to scratch the body surface.
1.
Remove the tailgate trim.
(Refer to Tailgate - "Tailgate Trim")
2.
Disconnect the tailgate latch connector (A).

3.
After loosening the mounting bolts, then remove the tailgate latch assembly (A).
Tightening torque :
6.9 - 10.8 N.m (0.7 - 1.1 kgf.m, 5.1 - 8.0 lb-ft)

4.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
   
•
Make sure the tailgate locks / unlocks and opens / closes properly.
•
Adjust the tailgate alignment.
•
Make sure the connectors are connected in properly.

    Replacement    â€¢ Take care to not let the tailgate fall on you as the lifts are removed. Have a helper hold the tailgate open, or use a secure method to hold it open.
